The Icom MA-510TR can be installed in a convenient place near the chart table, in the wheelhouse, on the flybridge or on a pedestal in the cockpit. The device’s high-resolution display is easily readable in direct sunlight and all other lighting conditions. A user-friendly display clearly shows vessel information for all AIS-equipped vessels in your vicinity.
Beyond this basic functionality, the Icom MA-510TR has a huge range of extra navigational features.
Information displayed includes information about vessels identified as potentially hazardous based on their speed and movement. A collision alarm function also activates an audio and visual alert for dangerous vessels. The device can also be connected to external audio equipment for loud warning audio that can be heard throughout the vessel.
A target filtering function enables you to remove vessels from the display as needed, such as in crowded areas. The device also features a silent mode, under which the AIS transmitter is switched off for privacy, such as for fishing vessels that would like to hide their location. The MA-510TR has DSC (digital selective calling) functionality, with which you can transmit an individual DSC to vessels selected from the map.
The Icom MA-510TR also features a navigation function to guide you to specified waypoint or AIS targets on the on-screen display. You can also assign up to 100 favourite locations or points of interest.
A man overboard (MOB) function also assists with emergency safety procedures. When the MOB button is pressed, the GPS automatically marks a waypoint at the current location, allowing you to navigate to that MOB waypoint.
With NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connectivity, the MA-510TR can connect to an NMEA 2000 network (an external plotter, marine radar and VHF radio). Using NMEA 0183/-HS connectivity, the transponder can connect to a transceiver, plotter device, marine radar or GPS receiver. USB connectivity also enables connectivity to other devices.
Other features: Compatibility with 12 V and 24 V power sources, an anchor watch function and IPX7 waterproof protection (up to 1 m depth of water for 30 minutes).
